Welcome to another Dodgy Picks post where I pick out a trio of tunes that I think are worth the effort it takes to put a blog post together. Yeah that’s right, blood, sweat and tears go into making this thing.
It’s a DnB fest this week, ranging from soulful (thanks to Lorna King), to melodic (via Technimatic) and then going sparse and heavy (Koax).
If you like these you can also check out the previous stuff I’ve been shouting about for the last few months.
Break ft Lorna King – Wait For You

Lorna King recently released a killer track with L-Side called “Unwind” which I would’ve posted here except it’s not on Bandcamp (sad face emoji).
So instead here’s a different song from Lorna from a couple years ago, it’s just as excellent, but this time with Break on production. The soulful vibe that starts this track is impeccable, Lorna’s vocal lifts it onto another level. And then the BASS kicks in, and we are very much off to the races!
Technimatic – From Within

Technimatic are masters of musical drum and bass. They’ve put out tunes on various labels over the years, Hospital, Ram, Shogun Audio and Spearhead to name a few.
Their latest release “From Within” is another entry that’s hits home with sharpened beats and blissful synth landscapes.
UPDATE: Spearhead Records have just announced a 50% off sale on all downloads, vinyl, CDs and merch from both their Bandcamp page and their website. So that would also include this tune. Nice! Just use the code ’20YEARS’ at checkout. Valid until 31st March 2025.
Koax – Formant (Name Your Price Download)

Rounding off this week of drum and bass picks is this must-grab ‘name your price’ download from Koax.
It’s sparse, it’s bassy and it kicks like a mule! Check it out and grab yourself a copy.
Be sure to check out other tunes I’ve recommended, take a look at my previous Dodgy Picks.
There’s also all the stuff I’ve made on my Discography page including my most recent release “Ignition Sequence”.
If you have a tune on BandCamp that’s along the lines of Breakbeat / Rave / Drum n Bass / Old Skool / Techno etc. and you’d like to submit it for a possible recommendation, feel free to drop me a line.
